Spiritual Mirror Work

Spiritual mirror work is a powerful practice to connect with our inner selves, heal emotional wounds, and promote personal growth. When we develop our inner world, our outer world begins to change. We start having more positive experiences as we literally begin to see ourselves as whole happy humans.

General steps for spiritual mirror work:

  1. Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can be alone and undisturbed.
  2. Stand, or sit, in front of a mirror and take some deep breaths to center yourself. Begin to relax your mind and body.
  3. Look into your own eyes and maintain eye contact with yourself. Try to stay present and focused no matter how uncomfortable it may feel.
  4. Begin to reflect on the emotions and thoughts that come up as you look at yourself. Allow yourself to feel whatever comes up.
  5. Use positive affirmations to combat negative thoughts.
  6. Start the process slow; try 2 minutes at a time and then work your way up.
  7. Remember to practice self-love throughout the process.
  8. Give yourself permission to feel and release whatever needs to come up.
  9. Take some time afterward to reflect on your experience and journal about any insights or realizations. This can help you integrate the experience while continuing the process of personal growth and healing.

This is a great process to help you get started. We must first establish acceptance, trust, and understanding with ourselves to evolve on our journey. If this general mirror activity is not enough for you, try the first practice below and move on to the next one when you are ready.

Practice 1 – Exhausting the Dialogue: Spend 5-10 minutes each day looking in the mirror and talking to yourself. Be vulnerable and honest about how you are feeling. Allow the dialogue to come up and wear out until nothing but forgiveness, gratitude, and love are present. Then be your own cheerleader; express kindness and motivation to jump-start your healing.

Practice 2 – Finding Perfection: Spend 10-15 minutes just looking at yourself. Looking past all the flaws and seeing only the perfection of your face and body. Then, begin to look past your face and body, and focus on your energy. Envision all the beautiful energy radiating off you. Play soft inviting music with this option or turn it into a sacred and sexy dance with yourself.

Advanced Practice 3 – Transcend Reality: Make sure to create a sacred space of protection and connect with your highest self before attempting this method. Once you are comfortable with the first two mirror tasks. Unlock the wisdom of using your mirror as a scrying device. Look past your image and discover a portal to the future or any healing insights you need currently. Don’t get lost on this journey or believe everything you see. Some of the images might be glimpses of the future or visions from your subconscious. Set a timer for 20 minutes, light a candle, pull it towards your face, and allow your gaze to become blurred as you peer past your reflection and into the void (dark mother energy), here we discover the mystery within the mystery.

It is important to approach spiritual mirror work with patience, self-compassion, and a willingness to be honest with yourself. With time and practice, it can help you connect with your inner self, promote deep healing, and maybe even help stimulate a spiritual awakening.
